Chilson Jewelers has been a locally owned Minnesota jeweler since it originated in the 1940s. Owned by Earl Anderson until 1976, it was then purchased by Donald Chilson. Previous to buying, what was then known as Anderson Jewelers, Donald worked 17 years at Ronald Jewelers in the Twin Cities. In the early 70s, Donald moved his family to their cabin on Rush Lake and began working for Earl. In 1976, Donald bought the store from Earl, and it became known as Chilson Jewelers.
Donald spent the next 31 years building Chilson Jewelers into the trusted Minnesota jewelry store it is today. He believed in selling quality jewelry, such as their custom elk jewelry, at discount prices and in providing each individual customer with the attention and respect they deserve. After a long and successful career in the jewelry business, Donald retired in 2007, passing the jewelry store onto his sons, Brian and Randy. Donald will always be known in the Cambridge community as an honest business man who stood behind the jewelry and gifts he sold. And, even though he's retired, you will still see him from time to time at the store helping out.
In April 2010, Brian Chilson became the sole owner and operator of Chilson Jewelers. Brian began his career with Chilson Jewelers when he was just out of high school and has been with the business for 20 years. Over the course of two decades, under the tutelage of Donald, Brian has become a knowledgeable jeweler; he has an excellent understanding of diamonds and the diamond industry. Having learned from the best, Brian strives to continue the same business practices modeled by his father. Honesty and integrity are important to Brian and his customer service is second to none. He takes the time to work with each individual customer until they are completely satisfied with the end result.
Brian's wife, Karen, has also recently begun to play a role in the business. After teaching for 10 years, she decided to teach only part time when Brian bought the store in 2010, allowing her to help out with the business. Karen has taken a more "behind the scenes" role in Chilson Jewelers so far, but hopes to learn more about the jewelry business as she works alongside Brian in the upcoming years.
Brian and Karen hope to continue the long standing tradition of being a reputable, family-owned, trusted jewelry store and a part of the Cambridge community for many years to come.
